Jophar Vorin of Laxaria

In 1851 a man calling himself Jophar Vorin (Joseph Vorin) was found wandering in the German village of Frankfurt-an-der Oder, along with speaking broken German, the traveller spoke and wrote in unknown languages he called "Laxarian" and "Abramian." He represented that he was from "Laxaria" in an area of the globe called "Sakria", separated from Europe by a vast ocean. This baffled the authorities because neither of the places existed anywhere on their map of the world!

He says that his religion is Christian in form and doctrine, and that it is called Ispatian. Laxaria he represents to be many hundred miles from Europe, and separated vast oceans from it. His purpose in coming to Europe, he alleges, was to seek a long-lost brother; but he suffered shipwreck on the voyage—where he does not know—nor can he trace his route on shore on any map or globe.

He claims for his unknown race a considerable share of geographical knowledge. The five great compartments (continents) of the earth he calls Sakria, Aflar, Astar, Auslar, and Euplar.

Whoever he was, Vorin's tale is sometimes used as evidence for teleportation, parallel universes and suchlike.

White Pyramid of Xian

The story of the White Pyramid came about in the 1940s, when eyewitness reports, specifically from pilot James Gaussman, related the presence of an enormous “White Pyramid” near the Chinese city of Xi’an. He is said to have seen a white jewel-topped pyramid during a flight between India and China during World War II. Not only was this extraordinary structure said to be the largest pyramid in the world but, in the valleys surrounding it, there were said to be dozens of other pyramids, some rising to an elevation almost as great. Colonel Maurice Sheahan, Far Eastern director of Trans World Airlines, told an eyewitness account of his encounter with a pyramid in the March 28, 1947 edition of The New York Times. A photo of Sheahan's pyramid appeared in The New York Sunday News on March 30, 1947. This photograph later became attributed to James Gaussman.

One day, James Gaussman was returning to Assam, in India, after having flown the ‘Burma Hump’ - ferried supplies to Chungking, China, from India - when engine trouble forced him to descend temporarily to a low altitude over China.

As he later wrote:

"I flew around a mountain and then we came to a valley. Directly below us was a gigantic white pyramid. It looked as if it were from a fairy tale. The pyramid was draped in shimmering white.

It could have been metal, or some other form of stone. It was white on all sides. What was most curious about it was its capstone: a large piece of precious gem-like material. I was deeply moved by the colossal size of the thing."

When Gaussman arrived back in Assam, combat duties pushed the sighting from his mind.

Photographs he had taken of the giant pyramid would not be published for another 45 years. Till then, even his report would be buried in the Secret Service files of the U.S. military. Numerous researchers and explorers have pursued the White Pyramid of Xi’an, but none to date have been successful.

Some believe that the White Pyramid may lie within the rugged terrain of the Qin Ling Mountains, difficult to spot among the towering mountains and deep gorges.

Ghost Ships Found Near Japan

The mystery started in early November 2015 when four empty wooden ships were found in the Sea of Japan, the body of water between Japan and Russia, South Korea and North Korea. Since then, an additional seven wooden vessels have been found, with the Japanese Coast Guard reporting at least 20 skeletons and decomposing corpses on them. The most recently discovered boat was brought to port in Fukui and reportedly contained seven bodies. All the bodies were "partially skeletonized" -- two were found without heads -- and one boat contained six skulls, the coast guard said. The first boat was found in October, then a series of boats were found in November. The skeletons and badly decomposed bodies of seven people dressed in clothes that bore labels written in Korean Hangul script. Alongside them was squid-fishing equipment and empty plastic bottles and cigarette packets.

More recently, a Japanese ghost ship, the Ryou-Un Maru, which had been washed out to sea by the 2011 tsunami, showed up a year later off the coast of Alaska and was sank by the US Coast Guard.
A wooden boat believed to be from North Korea that was found drifting off the coast of Japan

The identities of the corpses found aboard a capsized fishing boat off the Japan sea coast last month will be forever shrouded in mystery. The remains have been cremated, the ashes unclaimed. Soon the rickety wooden vessel that took its occupants to their deaths will be destroyed too.

Some in the Japanese media believe the vessels were fishing vessels that strayed off course, while others suggest they could be transporting defectors. The poor condition of the boat, the lack of equipment and, in one case, the discovery of a Kim Jong-il lapel badge all point to one country of origin: North Korea.

With no official diplomatic channels to pursue, there has been no reported contact between Pyongyang and Tokyo about the vessels or their occupants. In fact, many wrecked boats thought to be from North Korea drift towards Japan every year. More than 60 were discovered last year – most of them empty – according to the coastguard. In 2013 the number totalled 80. So far this year, 34 mystery boats have arrived, driven by fierce currents and a strong prevailing southwesterly wind.

Utsuro Bune The Mysterious Woman in the Hollow Boat

Utsuro Bune (or Utsuro Fune) in Japanese means "ship hole", a definition which clearly implies the villagers spoke of what they saw coming toward them that little floating boat-shaped bowl of rice. In the literature accompanying drawings found a description of a rounded metal ship arrived at the beach. From it emerges a woman dressed in light clothing and soft, inside the ship had letters that had never been seen (probably a language unknown to the locals). The description corresponds to what could be a UFO, according to the interpretation of the locals.

On February 22 in 1803, local fishers of the Harayadori shore in the Hitachi province saw an ominous "ship" drifting in the waters. Curious, they towed the vessel back to land, discovering that it was 3.30 metres (129.9 inches) high and 5.45 metres (212.6 inches) wide, reminding the witnesses of a Kōhako (Japanese incense burner). Its upper part appeared to be made of red coated rosewood, while the lower part was covered with brazen plates, obviously to protect it against the sharp-edged rocks. The upper part had several windows made of glass or crystal, covered with bars and clogged with some kind of tree resin. The windows were completely transparent and the baffled fishermen looked inside. The inner side of the Utsuro-bune was decorated with texts written in an unknown language.
The fishermen found items inside such as two bed sheets, a bottle filled with 3.6 litres of water, some cake and kneaded meat. Then the fishermen saw a beautiful young woman, possibly 18 or 20 years old. Her body size was said to be 1.5 metres (4;feet, 11 inches). Her skin was as white as snow, and her long black hair hung down her back like a plume. The beauty of her face was enough to render us all speechless. Her clothes were like nothing we had ever seen before, made of some remarkable and mysterious fabric. She spoke no language that they could understand. She carried a small box, the contents of which are unknown. Under no circumstances would she allow others to hold the box or even get near it.

The Bermuda Triangle’s sister, the Dragon’s Triangle (also known as the Devil’s Triangle), is a “danger zone” in the sea off the Southern coast of Japan. A large amount of boats have gone missing there along with 800+ people, never to be seen again. Some people believe that both the Bermuda and Dragon’s Triangle are actually where aliens have set up underwater bases (because it’s tough for us to find them there). Boats that make their way into alien territory aren’t guaranteed to make it through. Some would say that the Utsuro bune came from this “Dragon’s Triangle.”

Headless Horseman of Wycoller Hall

Wycoller Hall or Wyecoller Hall is said to be the scene for the regular twilight re-enactment of a real life tragedy. Every Christmas a headless cavalier known as the spectral headless horseman of Wyecoller Hall in seventeenth century costume, gallops wildly up the road to the hall. He dismounts and enters, making his way with echoing footfall up the stairs. Fearful screams are heard, the tragedy is re-enacted and the horseman reappears to gallop frantically away over hill and dale, as if the devil were at his heels. It is believed to be a re-enactment of a murder which took place at the hall during the 17th century, when a Cunliffe killed his wife, but not before she correctly prophesied the downfall of the family. The horseman ghost is usually identified as Simon Cunliffe.

This ruined mansion was the seat of the Cunliffes de Billington, a family which became extinct in 1819, in fulfillment of a curse laid upon it by the murdered wife of one of its members. There are several version why the horseman killed his wife.

Those 'in the know' tell of how the master of the Hall (known as Cunliffe) returned home in a rage one evening having heard that his wife was having an affair with another man. Showing no mercy, he murdered her and fled from the scene on horseback. Apparently during ghostly re-enactments, bloodcurdling screams can be heard echoing around the village, there is a crack of a whip and the sound of a horse galloping off into the hillside - some have even seen the ghostly spectre.

The following account of the one of the halls ghost stories was published in 1873 in John Harland & T T Wilkinson's 'Lancashire Legends'.

'Wyecoller Hall, near Colne, was long the seat of the Cunlififes of Billington. They were noted persons in their day, and the names of successive members of the family are attached to documents relating to the property of the Abbots of Whalley. But evil days came, and their ancestral estates passed out of their hands. In the days of the Commonwealth their loyalty cost them dear; and ultimately they retired to Wyecoller with a remnant only of their once extensive estates. About 1819 the last of the family passed away, and the Hall is now a mass of ruins. Little but the antique fireplace remains entire; and even the room alluded to in the following legend cannot now be identified. Tradition says that once every year a spectre horseman visits Wyecoller Hall. He is attired in the costume of the early Stuart period, and the trappings of his horse are of a most uncouth description. On the evening of his visit the weather is always wild and tempestuous. There is no moon to light the lonely roads, and the residents of the district do not venture out of their cottages. When the wind howls the loudest the horseman can be heard dashing up the road at full speed, and after crossing the narrow bridge, he suddenly stops at the door of the hall. The rider then dismounts and makes his way up the broad oaken stairs into one of the rooms of the house. Dreadful screams, as from a woman, are then heard, which soon subside into groans. The horseman then makes his appearance at the door — at once mounts his steed — and gallops off the road he came. His body can be seen through by those who may chance to be present; his horse appears to be wild with rage, and its nostrils stream with fire. The tradition is that one of the Cunliffes murdered his wife in that room, and that the spectre horseman is the ghost of the murderer, who is doomed to pay an annual visit to the home of his victim. She is said to have predicted the extinction of the family, which has literally been fulfilled.

In another version, the death of his wife concerns a fox hunt. The fox fled into the Hall, up the stairs followed by the mounted Simon Cunliffe and his pack of hounds. His wife was terrified with the situation she suddenly found herself in and started to scream and protest. Seeing his wife acting in, as far as he was concerned a cowardly fashion, angered Cunliffe and he raised his riding crop in preparation to strike her. This was the final straw and his wife suddenly died of fright.

The ghost of Lady Cunliffe is also thought to have been seen, described as wearing a black silk dress. She was apparently seen several times and is said to have foretold the fall of the Cunliffe family and she has not been seen since they left Wycoller Hall.

Great Britain's Ghost Trains

A stretch of the Northern Line, which is part of the famous London Underground, is reputed to be haunted by a spectral steam engine, between East Finchley station and Wellington Sidings. During the Second World War, building work commenced on Highgate High Level Station, but the station was never completed. Nevertheless, locals occasionally report hearing a steam train in the area where the track was supposed to have been laid.

In the 1860's a writer called I.D. Fenton toured Wales, England, and collected local legends and many appeared in the British illustrated literary newspaper Once A Week. One of the more extraordinary tales, which was widely reprinted in regular newspapers, concerns a spectral train from some years in the future. This legend appeared in his long article called 'Beyond Gower's Land', and the excerpt reads:

“As a people, the Welsh are much given to superstition, and many are pointed out said to be endowed with the power of prophecy, or 'second sight'. One instance, which occurred not many years ago in the neighbourhood, is firmly believed in. A farmer and his friend had been enjoying a day's fishing on the Tav, an excellent trouting stream that runs past the old Abbey of Whitland. As evening drew on, the sport grew slack, and at last the trout gave up taking at all, so the sportsmen put up their tackle, said 'Good night', and departed on their several roads homeward. The farmer, however, liked a pipe, and was stopping with the intention of lighting his when he became conscious of an indescribable sensation; the air seemed full of sound, and yet was perfectly silent. As he stood perplexed, not to say alarmed, strange noises began to issue from the ground, the hill trembled beneath his feet, his pipe dropped from his hand, and he was on the point of running away, when a long whistling shriek, accompanied by the sound of a thousand wheels, burst from the hill-side close beside him: a number of horses feeding close by pricked up their ears and galloped wildly down the hill, jumping right into the bed of the Tav, where they stood panting and frightened until the strange sound died away in the distance.

“The farmer did not stay to pick up his pipe, but hurried home brimful of the wonderful event, and under considerable apprehension that some calamity was going to happen to him or his family.

“Some time afterwards the line of the South Wales Railway was surveyed and a tunnel at last completed, the mouth of which opened at the very spot from whence what was now explained as a spectral train had issued, and upon opening day the farmer and a crowd of country folk were upon the spot to witness the effect, which certainly exactly answered the description by him, even to the horses galloping into the Tav."

Lincolnshire is home to a couple of ghostly trains. In the 1920's, a rail crash occurred at Ancholme Bridge near Elsham, during foggy weather. Four people lost their lives. Ever since, a ghostly train appears at the accident spot during foggy conditions. The train is said to emit a soft glow. At Hallington, near to where the old station stood, many witnesses have reported hearing the sound of an old steam locomotive passing during the night, even though the track was closed in 1956. At Halsall in Lancashire, a man decided to shoot some video footage at a nature reserve. As he stood on a disused railway bridge, filming, he heard the unmistakable sounds of railway carriages speeding along the disused tracks below. He saw nothing.

This ghost train was recorded by the folklorist J C Davies, who got it first-hand from the witness, 'an old man named James'. Here I repeat the story verbatim from his book 'Folklore of West and Mid Wales', which was published in 1911:

'Some years ago when he [James] happened to be out about midnight once, he saw a train passing, which came from the direction of Carmarthen, and went towards Llandilo, and as no train was to pass through the station of Nantgaredig at that hour, he enquired of the Stationmaster next morning what was the special train that passed at midnight. In reply he was told he had been either dreaming or had seen the spirit of a train, as no train had passed at that time of night.

'A few days after this a special train passed through the station conveying a large funeral from Carmarthen to Llandilo; and James and his friend were convinced that the train he had seen in the night was nothing but an apparition of the real train with the funeral!'

James's belief was that the ghost train had taken the form of a - for then - hi-tech version of the phantom funerals that commonly reported as shuffling through Welsh lanes at twilight to warn of real funerals to come.

Llangernyw Yew The Ancient Tree

This incredible male yew tree resides in a small churchyard of St. Dygain's Church in Llangernyw village, north Wales. The tree is fragmented and its core part has been lost, leaving several enormous offshoots. The girth of the tree at the ground level is 10.75 m. Although it is very hard to determine the age of yew trees, the churchyard gate holds a certificate from the Yew Tree Campaign in 2002, signed by David Bellamy, which states that "according to all the data we have to hand" the tree is dated to between 4,000 and 5,000 years old, the Llangernyw Yew was planted sometime in the prehistoric Bronze Age — and it's still growing!

According to local tradition, the church of Llangernyw is inhabited by an ancient spirit known as Angelystor (the "Recording Angel" or "Evangelist" in Welsh). This tradition holds that every year at Halloween a booming voice foretells the names of parishioners who will die the following year. Folklore tells of a disbelieving local man, Siôn Ap Rhobert, who challenged the existence of the spirit one Halloween night only to hear his own name called out, followed by his death within the year.

In 2002, in celebration of the golden jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, the tree was designated as one of 50 Great British trees by the Tree Council.

Ellen Austin

The Ellen Austin was captained by A.J. Griffin and sailing a London-New York route under the American flag, according to Lloyd’s of London. The ship supposedly came across a derelict ship, placed on board a prize crew, and attempted to sail with it to New York in 1881. According to the stories, the derelict disappeared; others elaborating further that the derelict reappeared minus the prize crew, then disappeared again with a second prize crew on board.

In 1881 during its first and final journey as a packet ship, the Ellen Austin would have its reported mysterious encounter. The Ellen Austin came across an unidentified schooner drifting just north of the Sargasso Sea, listless and “sailing an erratic path.”

Captain of the Ellen Austin commanded his crew to follow and observe the derelict for two days, just in case that the abandoned ship could be a trap. After two days with no activity or movement from the mysterious vessel, the captain was convinced it was safe to proceed closer.

The Ellen Austin moved within hailing distance. When the ship still failed to respond, the captain gathered four of his men and rowed toward the abandoned ship.

Then captain sent over a prize crew to investigate. They shortly confirmed the vessel was indeed strangely deserted.

Upon inspection, the vessel appeared to be shipshape and in reasonably well-maintained condition. Its sails were furled and tattered from exposure, but the vessel’s rigging was intact. There was no sign of any violence, nor was there any sign of a crew. The only things missing were the ship’s log and its nameplates, which for some reason had been removed from the bow.

Two of the Ellen Austin crewmen inspected the abandoned ship’s hold and reported it contained a well-packed shipment of mahogany. The captain speculated the schooner had likely been sailing from Honduras – possibly bound for England or a Mediterranean port – before something must have convinced the crew to evacuate quickly.

The circumstances were indeed curious, however the captain was intrigued by the salvage opportunity of this otherwise fine ship.

The prize crew was ordered to sail the vessel in tandem with the Ellen Austin.

About 2 days later the Ellen Austin and the nameless schooner were parted by a squall. The Ellen Austin had been separated from the abandoned vessel for some time before it was spotted once again by the Captain’s lookout. Through his spyglass, the captain could barely see the sails of the derelict. For some reason it did not seem to be following course, instead drifting aimlessly once again.

When the Ellen Austin closed in on the schooner, the captain and his men attempted to hail the ship, but no answer came. He assembled an inspection team and quickly rowed to the cryptic ship. Once again, the men boarded with guns drawn.

Of the prize crew, they found nothing. No one was on board. The cargo hold was still full and most everything else was in order – except there was no sign captain’s prize crew had ever been on the ship. No food rations were missing. The bunks had not been slept in. And the new logbook, left by the captain upon the vessel’s first discovery, had also disappeared.

It was as if the first encounter between the Ellen Austin and the derelict had never happened. The crew of the Ellen Austin – now convinced the derelict was cursed – wished to abandon it at sea. The Ellen Austin crew, teaming with superstition, sailed on for London.

Mystery of Lake Lanier

Lake Lanier (officially Lake Sidney Lanier) has been the location for more bizarre and mysterious deaths and disappearances that still remain unsolved. This lake is a reservoir in the northern portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. It was created by the completion of Buford Dam on the Chattahoochee River in 1956, and is also fed by the waters of the Chestatee River. The lake encompasses 38,000 acres (150 km2) or 59 square miles of water, and 692 miles (1,114 km) of shoreline at normal level, a "full summer pool" of 1,071 feet (326 m) above mean sea level. It was named for poet Sidney Lanier, and was built and is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It is patrolled by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GDNR). Ever since the Army Corps of Engineers completed construction of Buford Dam in 1952, and the backwaters of the Ole Hooch started filling in the cracks and crevices of North Georgia’s foothills, tall tales and legend have circulated throughout these parts about the secrets of Lake Lanier.

One such case revolves around a Georgia man by the name of Kelly Nash, 25, who went missing from his home in Buford, Georgia, on January 5, 2015. Early that morning at 4AM, Nash awoke with flu-like symptoms such as coughing and sneezing, and told his girlfriend Jessica Sexton, who was with him at the time, that he felt terrible and should probably see a doctor before going back to bed. Sexton then woke up again at 7:30 AM to find that Nash was gone and had not taken his wallet, car keys or ID with him. When Nash still had not returned that evening, police were called in and it was discovered that a 9mm pistol was missing from the house but none of Nash’s other belongings were missing or out of place. A massive search would subsequently be launched for Nash, involving authorities, family and friends, and dogs specially trained to sniff out dead bodies, and a $50,000 reward was offered for any information, yet no trace of the man or his whereabouts were found. It was not until one month after his strange disappearance, on February 8, that Nash’s badly decomposed body was found in Lake Lanier by a fisherman. Nash was still wearing the pajama pants and dark shirt that he’d had on when he went missing, and although the body appeared to have no major trauma, it was found that he had suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. The crime has never been solved and it is unclear why he chose to go out in the middle of the night in his sleeping clothes, how he ended up at the lake, and whether he committed suicide.
Satellite Map of Lake Lanier

In April 1958, Lake Lanier claimed its most famous victim, Susie Roberts, long since known as Lake Lanier’s Lady of the Lake. Roberts lost control of her car and crashed off the right abutment of Lanier Bridge on Dawsonville Highway. Her car came to rest in ninety feet of water, on a steep slope at the base of the bridge, caught in the deadfall of sheered-off tree trunks that comprise the Lake Lanier bottom.

A year after the accident in 1959, divers discovered the body of Delia Mae Parker Young, believed to be a passenger in Susie Roberts' car, but could never locate the car or remains of Miss Roberts.

With visibility being almost zero at that depth, Roberts remained undiscovered until November, 1990 when construction on the new Lanier Bridge expansion was underway. Construction crews found Roberts car while dredging out the lake bottom to set the foundation pillars for the new bridge. As construction crews were dredging the bottom of the lake in order to set up pillars for the expansion, they uncovered a rusted out hulk of a 1954 Ford which held within it the remains of a human body. The car had been hidden within tree trunks, mud, and other detritus in 90 feet of water on a steep slope. The body was decomposed to the point of being unidentifiable, but the belongings found on it, including a purse, rings, and watch were able to conclusively prove that the body was that of the long missing Susie Roberts. The headstone was changed accordingly, and Susie Roberts was buried beside her. Interestingly, although the deaths of Delia Parker Young and Susie Roberts is an old, mostly forgotten case, it has spawned one of the area’s most persistent and frightening local legends. It is said that a ghostly young woman dressed in a blue dress and missing her hands can sometimes be seen walking up and down the length of Lanier Bridge, and is said to be the ghost of Delia Parker Young, since she had been dressed in a blue dress on the night of her death and her body had been found minus hands. According to those who claim to have seen the ghost, which has since become known as The Lady of the Lake, Delia’s restless spirit seems to be searching for her missing hands.

On June 2012, boating collision killed Buford brothers Griffin and Jake Prince, whose funeral was July 3 in Suwanee. A Johns Creek business owner has been charged with boating under the influence in connection with that collision.

One month later, an accident occurred which injured Kyle Glover, 11, and a 15 year old girl. Glover, stepson of superstar entertainer Usher, reportedly has been declared brain dead by doctors in Atlanta. The children were in an inner tube being pulled by a pontoon boat when they were hit by a jet ski. The man piloting the jet ski reportedly was a member of the boating party with the children.According to, officials with the Department of Natural Resources, which patrols Lake Lanier, have been trying to re-create details of the incident involving Usher's stepson. They say alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

Ghosts, freak accidents, and mysterious murders are also not the only weird things apparently going on at Lake Lanier. Local fishermen have long insisted that there are gigantic catfish in the lake which reportedly reach sizes of 5 to 7 feet long and are said to swallow dogs that get to close to the water and even attack swimmers and divers. These giant catfish are said to be particularly attracted to the deep waters below Buford Dam, and there are various accounts from divers working in the area to examine the dam or fix bridges who have seen the huge fish for themselves, which were scary enough to supposedly make some of the divers refuse to go back into the water there ever again. One of the most popular local tales concerning the alleged giant catfish of Lake Lanier concerns a truck carrying live chickens, which supposedly hurtled off of the Thompson Bridge in the 1980s and sank to the bottom along with its cargo. Divers were then sent in to examine the wreckage and to their horror found catfish “the size of 12-year-old boys” gathered about the sunken truck and engaged in a ravenous feeding frenzy swallowing the chickens whole. Other stories have described fishermen hooking into the enormous fish and having their boats towed around the lake. It is unclear whether these reports of giant catfish in Lake Lanier are true, exaggerations, or pure urban legend, but it is certainly enough to give one pause before getting into the water here.

Alaskan Petroglyphs

Petroglyph Beach State Historic Site located on the shore of Wrangell, Alaska barely a mile out of town, it become a State Historic Park in 2000. At least 40 petroglyphs have been found to date. The petroglyphs hold more mystery than history. No one is sure why they were made, or what they say. The point of land that these drawings are on is a very good place to keep lookout or to beach a canoe to wait for the tide to change. There could be many reasons for the artwork to be here. The site itself is about 8000 years old. Some of the rocks strewn around the beach have ancient pictures on them. Many of them are faint, and it takes a little practice to see them. It is also easier to see the petroglyphs if it is raining and the rocks are wet.

The petroglyphs that remain here are found on the boulders and bedrock outcrops on the shore, just below and above mean high tide. It is thought that they were created by members of the Tlingit tribe and most of the petroglyphs can be found close to places of importance such as salmon streams and sites of habitation. They depict whales, salmon, and faces of the community. The rock here is metamorphic and tends to be a dark gray that is finely grained, moderately durable, and easy to fracture, which would make it easier to manipulate for petroglyphs.
Petroglyph Beach State

The Tlingit of southeastern Alaska, living under most favor-able conditions of climate and food supply, with abundant leisure to cultivate an innate sense of art, evolved in time a rich ceremonial that had for its purpose the glorification of the family in the display of the totem, or the practice of shamanistic rites which constituted his nearest approach to any form of religion or worship.

Chronovisor The Missing Time Machine

The chronovisor was described as a large cabinet with a cathode ray tube for viewing the received events and a series of buttons, levers, and other controls for selecting the time and the location to be viewed. It could also locate and track specific individuals. According to its inventor, it worked by receiving, decoding and reproducing the electromagnetic radiation left behind from past events. It could also pick up the audio component or sound waves emitted by these same events.

No photos of the Chronovisor exist, but paranormal journalist John Chambers says Ernetti reportedly used the "way back machine" to film Christ's crucifixion for Vatican officials. Ernetti died in 1994 without revealing the secret of the Chronovisor but Chambers says evidence is mounting that the Catholic Church is hiding a working model from the rest of the world, supposedly to keep it from getting into evil hands.

One afternoon in the early 1960's in his little 12 by 12 foot monastic cell Father Pellegrino Ernetti greeted Father Francois Brune. The two men had just met for the first time the day before during a ferry ride across Venice's Grand Canal. During their short conversation, Father Ernetti had said something that stuck in Father Brune's mind. The two, who were both experts on ancient languages, were talking about scriptural interpretation when Father Ernetti remarked that there existed a machine that could easily answer all their questions.

Father Brune was puzzled about what kind of machine could do such a thing and resolved to bring it up again with Father Ernetti in that day's meeting. When asked about it, Father Ernetti described a device he called a "chronovisor" that looked a bit like a television. Instead of receiving broadcasts from local transmission stations, however, the chronovisor could tune into the past to allow the viewer to see and hear events that had occurred years or even centuries earlier. Father Ernetti told Brune that the machine worked by detecting all the sights and sounds that humanity had made that still floated through space. Father Brune wanted to know if Father Ernetti and his collaborators had been able to see the crucifixion of Christ. Ernetti replied, "We saw everything. The agony in the garden, the betrayal of Judas, the trial - Calvary."

Father Brune, however, does not believe Ernetti's "confession" and is convinced that the authorities had coerced Ernetti into making a false confession.

The alleged existence of the chronovisor has fueled a whole series of conspiracy theories,[who?] such as that the device was seized and is actually used by the Vatican or by those who secretly control governments and their economies all around the world.

Legend of The Ancient Race of White Giants

Several Native American tribes have passed down legends of a race of white giants who were wiped out. The first record of giants in Ohio can be traced back to 1829. A near by mound was being used to furnish the material to build a hotel in Chesterville. As they dug into the mounds, the workers dug up a large human skeleton. The local physician examining the skeleton said that the skull could have easily fit over a normal man's head with no difficulty. Another pecularity of the skeleton was the additonal teeth it had compared to modern man.

In the Ohio River Valley, Indian Mounds abound. In 1872,Seneca Township, Noble County, Ohio, in what is now called 'Bates' Mound three skeletons wre found. All three skeletons unearthed were at the very least eight feet tall in heighth with bone structure proportional to their height. Another amazing discovery about these skeletons is that they all had double rows of teeth.

One of the strangest contributions ever to come to hand tells of the existence in what is now Indiana, long before statehood and even before the Indians came here, of a mysterious giant mound-builders race whose men were more than nine feet tall. What's more the contributor of this odd information, Helen W. Ochs of Columbus, Ind., wrote that evidence of their one-time existence here still remains near Brewersville, Jennings County.

She quoted from the geological report many years ago on Jennings County by W.W. Borden that the remains of the largest work of those mound builders in that country were to be seen on the bluffs 75 to 100 feet above Sand Creek in Sand Creek Township.
The report added:
"It is a stone mound 71 feet in diameter, showing at this time a height of three to five feet above the surrounding surface. The exterior walls appear to be made of stones placed on edge but the central portion did not show any regular arrangement of the stones"

Horatio Bardwell Cushman wrote in his 1899 book “History of the Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Natchez Indians”: “The tradition of the Choctaws . . . told of a race of giants that once inhabited the now State of Tennessee, and with whom their ancestors fought when they arrived in Mississippi in their migration from the west. … Their tradition states the Nahullo (race of giants) was of wonderful stature.”

Chief Rolling Thunder of the Comanches, a tribe from the Great Plains, gave the following account of an ancient race of white giants in 1857: “Innumerable moons ago, a race of white men, 10 feet high, and far more rich and powerful than any white people now living, here inhabited a large range of country, extending from the rising to the setting sun. Their fortifications crowned the summits of the mountains, protecting their populous cities situated in the intervening valleys.

Yates also writes of the Starnake people of Navajo legend, describing them as: “A regal race of white giants endowed with mining technology who dominated the West, enslaved lesser tribes, and had strongholds all through the Americas. They were either extinguished or ‘went back to the heavens.'”

Mystery of The Wheel of Giants

The Wheel of Giants also known in Arabic as Rujm el-Hiri, or "stone heap of the wild cat," and Gilgal Refaim in Hebrew was discovered by Israeli archaeologists shortly after the 1967 Six Day War. The impressive ancient ruins, located in the Golan Heights are a wheel-like design of enormous piled rocks—an estimated 40,000 tons of black basalt—stacked into at least five concentric rings, with a central burial cairn at its center. No one knows who created the enormous stone circles some 5,000 years ago, nor why. Some experts think it might have been a nomadic civilisation that settled the area, but it would have required a tremendous support network that itinerants might not have had.

"It's an enigmatic site. We have bits of information, but not the whole picture," said Uri Berger, an expert on megalithic tombs with the Israel Antiquities Authority. Unlike the massive rocks of Stonehenge, Rujm el-Hiri is made up of much smaller stones, with a total diameter of more than 500 feet, according to Popular Archaeology. At the heart of the Wheel of Giants is a 15-foot-high burial mound; although who was buried there -- and whatever he or she was buried with -- were taken by tomb robbers long ago.

Shards of pottery and flint tools were found in various excavations to help date the site, Berger said. Scholars generally agree that construction started as early as 3,500 BC and other parts may have been added to over the next two thousand years.

A 2010 report in Biblical Archaeology Review said the circles may have been used as "an ancient calendrical device that indicated the arrival of the summer solstice and other astronomical events."

The same report said the tomb may have been added as much as 2,000 years after the circles were created.

A 2011 theory suggests the circle and burial mound were built at the same time and used for a version of "sky burials."

The bodies of the deceased would be placed at the top of the mound at the center for vultures to pick clean, and then the bones could be placed into ossuaries, according to the theory published in Biblical Archaeology Review by Dr. Rami Arav.

Dead Man's Ghost was Caught Looking Over His Dead Body

Some even say that spirits or ghosts linger because they do not know they are already dead. This photo seems to support that belief. This bizarre photo is posted by facebook user Xian Ramos in facebook page Mio Nation. It was taken at North Olympus Subdivision in Quezon City. In the photo, a man can be seen shot dead and was lying on the streets while spectators and onlookers watched on. The victim was wearing a green shirt and had blond hair.

This causes a craze among netizens as they claim that the said "onlooker" might just be the soul of the dead victim. While others claim that the photo could have been photoshopped, some had chills on their spines upon the realization.

Lost Island of the Aegean Sea

An international team of archaeologists believe they had discovered an island in the Aegean Sea that was once the ancient city of Kane. The ancient city of Kane, which gave its name to the peninsula, was known as a harbor, chosen by the Romans during the war against Antiochas III in 191-190 B.C. The island, mentioned by the ancient Greek historian Xenophon, is famous for its proximity to the 406 B.C. sea battle of Arginusae, at which the Athenians defeated the Spartans near the end of the Peloponnesian war.

Though Kane was only a small city in antiquity, it held a place along a strategic maritime trade route running from the Black Sea along the southern coast of Turkey, with a large harbor where ships could shelter from storms.

Archaeologists from universities in İzmir, Karlsruhe, Manisa, Munich, Kiel, Cologne, Rostock and Southampton, prehistorians, geographers, topographers and geophysics experts worked on the research project. Following the works, the quality of the harbors in the ancient city of Kane was revealed. Also, the location of the third island, which was lost, has been identified.

Archaeologist Prof. Felix Pirson said, considering the architectural remnants and ceramics in the village, they had discovered the location of Kane on the peninsula in Bademli village.

Alien Moon base Spotted by Google Moon

On January 2014, an unusual object -- photographed by NASA's Clementine spacecraft, which launched in 1994 -- measures approximately 500 feet x 420 feet, and is located near the region known as Mare Moscoviense. Using the actual Google Moon coordinates of the object -- 22º42'38.46"N and 142º34'44.52"E. The gigantic shape actually looks like the leading edge of an immense, triangular space ship, similar to, so far, super secret stealth aircraft technology, but is much larger than any airplane ever built on Earth. Speculation has exploded over these controversial images which appear to show something unexplained on the surface of the moon.

Turner Radio Network reports that the U.S. government has been secretly tracking two huge objects approaching Earth for two years, citing an outside consultant from NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office. In January 2013, the objects disappeared all of a sudden about 200,000 miles past Mars, reports the network, but now it seems at least one of them has landed on the moon.

Turner Radio Network named its source as “Dr. Eric Norton,” a long-time consultant for the National Security Agency (NSA) and NASA. Norton described the objects he was called in by NASA to help monitor at the MacDonald Observatory in Texas.

“What I saw was an array of massive, three-dimensional, black structures in space, in straight-line formation, advancing in direction of planet Earth,” he said. He was shown the objects over a three-month period and saw they “had moved millions upon millions of miles closer within just months.”

Analysing the objects, he and his team hypothesized that they must be made of a material several thousand times as hard as the hardest materials known to humans on Earth.

The objects have been a cause of great concern, Norton said, with many questions arising and few answers.

However, Marc Dantonio, chief photo and video analyst for the Mutual UFO Network has another explanation. He said, "I would suspect, from looking at it that [the original] object is a stitching artifact from Google Moon,"

"A stitching artifact is a photographic anomaly that occurs due to the process by which many photos are aligned and put together to make a large photo mosaic. Google Moon, Google Earth, Google Mars, as well as Google Sky, for that matter, are all composed of tens of thousands of images that are aligned as best as possible with each other and draped over a spherical 'planet,' be it Earth or the moon, for instance," Dantonio told HuffPost via email.

Dantonio owns a special effects company that often creates imagery and models for the U.S. military forces. He explained how the Google Moon software "must make choices as to how it will deal with different lighting, angle and exposure. Further, sometimes the imagery are taken with entirely different spacecraft, and the images have to be scaled or mathematically projected to match the imagery not easily attainable from other sources."

He concludes that artifacts often result when the software can't perfectly match the image.

Die Glocke The Nazi Bell

Stories about the Nazi Bell have cropped up in the UFO literature for many years, including Discovery Channel's 2008 "Nazi UFO Conspiracy." Die Glocke (German for “The Bell”) was a purported top secret Nazi scientific technological device, secret weapon, or Wunderwaffe. In August 1997 a Polish Intelligence officer with access to Polish Government documents made writer Igor Witkowski aware of the Nazi Bell. Original documents came from war crime interrogation of former SS Lt General Jakob Sporrenberg after the war.

According to Witkowski whilst working as a military journalist, an undisclosed member of Polish military intelligence showed him some interesting documents. Witkowski received discreet access over a period of a month during which he transcribed files by hand. These documents have not been independently verified, however there are several less well detailed corroborations of the Bell project from entirely different sources. Leader for the Bell project was Prof Walther Gerlach, who was also the leader of Germany's Uranium project from January 1944. It's logical to assume therefore that the Bell was part of Nazi Germany's Atomic weapons project.

Die Glocke is described as being a device “made out of a hard, heavy metal” approximately 2.7 metres (9 ft) wide and 3.7 to 4.6 metres (12 to 15 ft) high, having a shape similar to that of a large bell. According to an interview of Witkowski by Cook, this device ostensibly contained two counter-rotating cylinders which would be “filled with a mercury-like substance, violet in color”. This metallic liquid was code-named "Xerum 525" and was “stored in a tall thin thermos flask a meter high encased in lead”. Additional substances said to be employed in the experiments, referred to as Leichtmetall (light metal), “included thorium and beryllium peroxides”.

The Bell concept exploited an even earlier patent. In March 1934 Hungarian scientist Leo Szilard applied for a patent which was titled "improvements in, or relating to the transmutation of Chemical Elements. His Patent described how radioactive bodies are generated by bombarding suitable elements with neutrons. Szilard went on to describe "such uncharged nuclei penetrate even substances containing the heavier elements without ionisation loss and cause the formation of radio-active substances."

A constant criticism of the Bell story is that it is a myth based entirely upon the unverified claims of Polish author Igor Witkowski. In fact there are others who contribute small portions of the story who are also witnesses to the Bell at Ludwikowice.

1. SS Lieutnant General Jakob Sporrenberg, Police Chief (ie Gestapo) Lublin (occupied Poland)
2. SS Hauptsturmfuhrer Rudolf Schuster, from interrogation report at Berlin Document Centre about evacuation of the Bell by air in 1945.
3. Dr Wilhelm Voss, Chief Executive of Skoda Works, Czechoslovakia given to Tom Agoston
4. Soviet plasma scientist G.N. Frolov in 1983 interview referred to Prof Baron Manfred von Ardenne as first hand witness.
5. Railway employee from Opole, Joachim Ibrom
6. Dr Otto Cerny (whilst working at NASA, recounted Nazi Bell to Greg Rowe)
7. Argentine Economic Ministry report declassified 1993 refers to Bell being unloaded in Argentina from a multi-engined German.

Conspiracy theorists suggest that the Nazi Bell was taken to the United States—as were many German scientists—and that the United States has continued research on the technology.

Mysterious Sword of Goujian

In 1965, archaeologists discovered 50 ancient tombs while carrying out a survey in Hubei Province, just 4 miles (7 kilometers) from the ruins of Jinan, capital of the ancient Chu State. During the excavations of the tombs, researchers unearthed the sword of Goujian alongside approximately 2,000 other artifacts. The Sword of Goujian is one of the earliest known Jian swords, a double-edged straight sword. Jian swords are among the earliest sword types in China and are closely associated with Chinese mythology. Forged of copper and tin, it is renowned for its unusual sharpness and resistance to tarnish rarely seen in artifacts so old. This historical artifact of ancient China is currently in the possession of the Hubei Provincial Museum.

The sword is 55.7 centimeters long with a 4.6-centimeter-wide blade and 8.4-centimeter-long handle. On one side of the blade, two columns of text are visible. Eight characters are written in an ancient script which was found to be one known as Bird-worm seal script (literally "birds and worms characters" owing to the intricate decorations of the defining strokes), a variant of seal script. Initial analysis of the text deciphered six of the characters, "King of Yue" and "made this sword for [his] personal use". The remaining two characters were probably the name of this King of Yue.

In the 1990s, other research has revealed a high proportion of sulfur around the flower pattern and sulfide cuprum, which is rustproof. On the blade's surface scientists have also found traces of a chemical treatment used to prevent rust.

UFO Spotted Near Delhi Airport

On Oct. 30, Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) air traffic control (ATC) viewed suspicious flying objects three times near and around the airport. Security agencies guarding IGI Airport have been put on high alert following the ‘regular spotting’ of suspicious flying objects in and around the airport. On Tuesday too, the ATC had apparently noticed a flying object (a drone) over the runway, but had no visual evidence to support its claim. On Wednesday night, the pilot of an Air Vistara flight from Bhubaneswar had complained of being distracted by a laser beam right while landing at IGI’s runway 29, putting the lives of hundreds of passengers at risk.

The pilot claimed that he was 6 nautical miles away from runway when he observed the laser beam, which distracted him.

The Delhi Police have prohibited the use of laser beams by any individual or group or organizers in areas around the airport under Section 144 of CrPC.

On Friday, the flying objects were first noticed by an air force officer.

“A member of Indian Air Force (IAF) sits at the ATC tower of Delhi airport. At 10:44am on Friday, he first noticed a flying object over runway 9-27, the smallest runway of Delhi airport. He reported two more objects at 10:50am and 10:55am, flying outside the airport boundary. On Tuesday, an ATC staff had claimed of having spotted a drone-like object but there is no concrete evidence was discovered to support the claims. This time also, we do not have any evidence. But this is alarming,” said an airport official.

“Even the ATC radar couldn’t capture anything on Tuesday. On Friday, some staff claimed that the radar had captured a flying object. But later we found no evidence. No one is sure as to what is happening. But we have put everyone on alert as we do not want to take any risks, especially with the VIP movements due to the India-Africa Forum Summit,” the official added.

Sources said that a meeting of Intelligence Bureau, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Bureau for Civil Aviation Security and Delhi Police had been conducted and the Indian Air Force (IAF) had been asked to keep a strict watch on aerial threats.
It's not the first time this year a major Indian airport has gone on alert when unusual things were reported in the sky. Back on May 23, five unexpected, uninvited and unmanned objects put the Mumbai airport on alert. The current rash of aerial objects over IGI Airport remains unresolved. But it's serious enough that the Indian Air Force "has been authorized to shoot down any suspicious object, if need be."

Kazakhstan Geoglyphs

Last year it was announced that 50 huge sprawling geoglyphs had been discovered in Kazakhstan by archaeologists surveying Google Earth, but since then there has been little information about how, when and why they were built. The earthworks, in Turgai, Kazakhstan, were first spotted in Google Earth in 2007 by Kazakh economist, Dmitriy Dey, according to an in-depth report in the New York Times. They are created from mounds of dirt only three feet and roughly 30 feet wide (0.9 metres high and 9 metres wide). The geoglyphs come in a huge range of shapes and sizes – there are rings, crosses, squares and a swastika. Unlike the famous Nazca lines in Peru, they were constructed by building mounds – the Nazca lines were created by digging into the ground. What is most intriguing about the geoglyphs is who made them. It is thought they date back at least 3,000 years, but further research into the patterns indicates the oldest could be as much as 7,000 years old. During this time in Kazakhstan, societies were largely nomadic, so why they would have started building these features with stone is a complete mystery.

Kazakhstan geoglyph

In ancient times, the swastika was a common design with no political undertones. Though the swastika was created from timber, most of the geoglyphs were shaped from earth.

Using a dating technique called optically stimulated luminescence (OSL), the archaeologists recently found that the structures were constructed starting around 2,800 years ago. They were built at the beginning of Kazakhstan's "iron age," when iron tools and weapons gradually replaced those made of bronze, said archaeologists Andrew Logvin and Irina Shevnina, both of Kostanay University in Kazakhstan.

So far, the archaeologists can confirm the existence of 60 such geoglyphs in Kazakhstan. They suspect more will be found, but they have yet to find 260 of the earthen designs, as was reported by the Times, Logvin and Shevnina said.

Though the purpose of the geoglyphs is not known, excavations at the geoglyphs have yielded the remains of structures and hearths that may have been used as sanctuaries, Logvin and Shevnina said. They also noted that the geoglyphs might have been used by tribes to mark territory.

Mysterious Inscription of River Witham Sword

The River Witham knightly sword, was found in 1825 in the River Witham near Lincoln carries a mysterious inscription which has baffled historians for centuries. It’s believed the 13th century sword originally belonged to a medieval knight and it is likely of German origin. The blade bears an inlaid inscription reading +NDXOXCHWDRGHDXORVI+. The weapon's length is 960 or 964 mm (38 in.) in length. The hilt of the weapon measures 165 mm or 6.5 inches. The blade itself is 815 mm in length.

According to the British Museum, the River Witham sword was forged in Germany, which was then the blade-making center of Europe. And pre-Christian Germanic tribesman inscribed runes onto their swords, axes and armor to "endow the items with magical powers," the Fyris Swords Project researchers wrote in a paper published in the journal Waffen- und Kostümkunde (Weaponry and Costumes) in 2009.
The Mysterious River Witham Sword

So far it’s been suggested the inscription may be a battle-ready phrase in medieval Welsh, the first letters from a poem or even complete gibberish fabricated by an illiterate craftsman.

Is the message some kind of magical incantation, meant to empower the weapon's owner with mystical abilities during battle? Perhaps the inscription is a religious blessing, or maybe it's just the complicated signature of whoever forged the weapon.

It's possible that this ancient tradition was carried over to Christian times and that the inscriptions on the blades were therefore meant to "invoke God’s holy name and his grace to gain support and protection in battle," according to the researchers.

Arbatel the Magic of the Ancients

Arbatel was written by an Italian mage, however the author and original date that pen was put to paper are unknown. It was a Latin grimoire of renaissance ceremonial magic published in 1575 in Switzerland. The Arbatel mainly focuses on the relationship between humanity, celestial hierarchies, and the positive relationship between the two. The Olympian spirits featured in it are entirely original. The Arbatel was one of the most influential works of its kind from its period, inspiring figures such as Johann Arndt, Gerhard Dorn, Adam Haslmayr, Robert Fludd, Heinrich Khunrath, and Valentin Weigel, in addition to its editor and publisher, Zwinger and Perna. It was possibly the first work to use "Theosophy" in an occult sense (as opposed to a synonym for theology), and for distinguishing between human ("anthroposophia") and divine knowledge ("theosophia").

When it first appeared in 1575, it attracted the attention of people with a surprisingly broad range of agendas, including some of the finest minds of the time. Often quoted and reprinted, both praised and condemned, its impact on western esoteric philosophy has been called “overwhelming.” This little book is mentioned by John Dee in his Mysteriorum Libri. Delrio condemns the book in his Disquisitiones magicae.'

The only known, existing tome (“book” or “volume,” that is) of the Arbatel, is the first, the Isagoge, which the author explains means “Book of the Institutions of Magic” and consists of “the most general precepts of the whole Art.”

The final editing of the book was likely carried out by Theodor Zwinger, and was almost definitely published by Pietro Perna, leaving little doubt to the book's claimed Swiss origin. The author remains unknown, but Peterson believes one Jacques Gohory (1520-1576) to be the most likely possibility. Gohory, like Zwinger and Perna, was a Paracelsian.
In 1617, the University of Marburg took action against two professors who intended to use the grimoire as a textbook, and expelled a student obsessed with it.
